Great American Gazette is a website and graphic design project that aims to recreate the classic print newspaper design popular in the USA throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. The project features a layout concept that is enhanced with modern attributes like animated gifs, while also maintaining the traditional columnar layout of printed newspapers. The project is a recreation of the look and feel of a printed national newspaper.
One of the main challenges in this project was to recreate the columnar layout in HTML and CSS to replicate the style of the printed newspaper like the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune, etc. The design of printed newspapers and how they've adopted were also taken into consideration.
To address the challenge of recreating the columnar layout, the team used modern web design techniques to create a layout concept that was similar to traditional newspapers while also being responsive and user-friendly. The project features many different sections of the newspaper, like Arts & Entertainment section, U.S. Section, World section, etc. Additionally, the project has been created as the basis for an up and coming AI project that will be completely run by AI (the writers and editors will be AI).
The result is a website that offers a unique user experience, where visitors can explore the different sections of a newspaper in a digital format that is similar to a printed version. The project has also been well-received by audiences and has gained positive feedback for its unique design and user-friendly interface.
